The Most Expensive Ford In The World

The most expensive Ford recorded in history was the 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 - which was sold at $5.5 million in January 2007 at an auction. The car was built by the legendary car racer Carroll Shelby himself, which was then the fastest sports car throttling down the road. When the Cobra 427 was produced in 1966, it was one of the two. Shelby built the supercharged car with additional bumpers, mufflers and other racing necessities. Two Paxton superchargers were added to the original 427-cubic inch V-8 a double horsepower, the fastest roadster ever built. It has a charged up power of 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and was running at 200 mph.  From 1962-1968, the Super Snake was the apple of the eye of its builder.

The production of the Cobras then combined the Ford V-8 engines and the lightweight British AC Ace bodies. With this combination, the Cobras stood out and was the America's mos sought-after cars. There were a total of 23 Cobra racing roadsters built then, but the Cobra Super Snake was the best creation Shelby ever made. Shelby altered some of the British AC Ace suspension which was not at par with the Cobra's power, including the aluminum body of the car, further boosting the car's super performance on the road. With almost in its original condition, the Shelby Cobra 427 caught the attention of the bidders. $5.5 million wasn't that bad to own this super powered Snake.  

The epitome of motor-sport immortals was built by Ford in 1965, named Ford GT40. Back then, the car sold at $5,900 plus, dubbed as the most expensive Ford ever produced, with only 31 roadster versions. In May 1969, the GT40 MK 111 roadsters were finished by JW Automotive Engineering in Buckinghamshire. The car version was fitted with the Ford 289 cubic inch V8 running at an optimum speed of 164 mph. This was the pride of Ford which has won for it several victories.
